Factors that Lead to Insomnia

Sleep is one of the integral parts of our daily routine as it acts as a way to revive our body and brain to undertake responsibilities for the next day. Other mental illnesses such as anxiety, bipolar disorder, BPD, and depression are also active causes of insomnia. It has been observed that with mental illnesses, the patients lose control of their emotions due to abnormal levels of serotonin in the human brain. Due to the shift in hormones or excessive pain the lower part of a woman’s body during menstruation leads to its loss of sleep and insomnia. Pregnancy and genetic conditions also lead to the development of insomnia. Researches show that if insomnia is left untreated for a prolonged period of time, it can lead to harsher sleep disorders. Insomnia can be self-treated with exercise, yoga, and change in lifestyle. However, it has been observed that a prolonged period of insomnia cannot be self-treated. Hence, various medications are prescribed in order for the cure of this particular condition of loss of sleep.
